Discovery could improve in vitro fertilization success rates for women around the world

Scientists at Oregon Health & Science University, Stanford University, University of Valencia and IGENOMIX have discovered that chromosomal abnormalities in human embryos created for in vitro fertilization, or IVF, can be predicted within the first 30 hours of development at the cell-1 stage which results from the union of a female egg and male sperm.

Leukemias with ALK mutations identified, may respond to ALK inhibitors

Mutations in the ALK gene were identified in the tumors of two leukemia patients, and laboratory studies indicated that leukemias harboring these mutations may respond to ALK inhibitors such as crizotinib and ceritinib, according to a study published in Cancer Research that was conducted by researchers with the Knight Cancer Institute at Oregon Health & Science University.

A new study shows an “alarming rise” over the last 20 years in the costs of drugs used to slow the progression of multiple sclerosis or reduce the frequency of attacks, according to a study led by researchers at Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) and Oregon State University (OSU).
