Doernbecher Freestyle 2019 collection to be unveiled Friday, Nov. 8

WHAT:
Preview the Doernbecher Freestyle 2019 collection before it’s unveiled for public auction.
The collection features one-of-a-kind footwear and apparel collections designed by six OHSU Doernbecher Children’s Hospital patients who were paired with a dedicated Nike design team.
Attending media will be able to:
- Take photos and video of the patient-designers and their families as they reveal their designs for the first time.
- Conduct interviews with patient-designers about the inspiration behind each design as well as how the Doernbecher Freestyle experience has impacted their lives.
- Talk with Dana Braner, M.D., FAAP, FCCM, about how funds raised through the Doernbecher Freestyle program support patient care. Braner is Credit Unions for Kids chair and professor of pediatrics (critical care), OHSU School of Medicine; and physician-in-chief, OHSU Doernbecher Children’s Hospital.
- Learn about the unique relationship between OHSU and Nike, as well as the impact of the Doernbecher Freestyle program from Jorge Casimiro, Chief Social & Community Impact Officer, NIKE, Inc.

Doernbecher Freestyle represents a partnership between Nike and OHSU Doernbecher to provide young patients facing serious medical conditions the opportunity to design limited-edition footwear and apparel to support the children’s hospital. Now in its 16th year, the program has raised nearly $24 million to expand pioneering research, support clinical care, purchase state-of-the-art equipment, recruit new experts and help cover the cost of care for families most in need.
