U.S. News & World Report ranks OHSU Hospital No. 1 in Oregon
OHSU is the No. 1 ranked hospital in Oregon and the Portland metro area for the sixth consecutive year, according to U.S. News Best Hospitals 2016-2017. Seven adult specialties at OHSU also rank among the top 50 in the country.
U.S. News says it evaluates nearly 5,000 hospitals nationwide. For 2016-17, 153 hospitals were ranked in at least one specialty, while 1,628 received a high performing rating in one or more specialties, procedures or conditions.
U.S. News ranks the following OHSU specialties the among best in the nation for 2016-2017:
- Cancer (#36)
- Cardiology and heart surgery (#36 – newly ranked)
- Diabetes and endocrinology (#35 – newly ranked)
- Ear, nose and throat (#17 – two-way tie)
- Geriatrics (#36 – two-way tie)
- Nephrology (#37 – newly ranked)
- Urology (#24) – newly ranked
OHSU specialties designated “high-performing” by U.S. News include:
- Gastroenterology
- Neurology & Neurosurgery
- Ophthalmology
- Orthopedics

U.S. News also ranks children’s hospitals. OHSU Doernbecher Children's Hospital ranks among the nation’s top 50 children’s hospitals in seven pediatric specialties for 2016-2017.
U.S. News says their Best Hospitals rankings, now in their 27th year, help guide patients to hospitals that deliver outstanding care across 25 specialties, procedures and conditions.
