Dr. Hogarth discusses “shocking” new Parkinson’s treatment with KATU

Penny Hogarth, MD, Associate Professor, Department of Neurology, was featured in a KATU article about a new treatment method for Parkinson’s patients. The treatment involves drilling two holes into a patient’s brain and inserting wire probes for stimulation. In the article, which profiles a Portland patient with Parkinson’s disease, Dr. Hogarth said, “It’s a crazy idea . . . but it seems to work.”
