Calendar Alert: Symposium for Young People with Parkinson’s is Sept. 19

“Tools for Living” symposium to help young patients with children, careers and chronic illness

WHAT:  Young people with Parkinson’s disease can learn how to maintain the best possible quality of life at a symposium presented by Oregon Health & Science University. Kari Lyons, a social worker with more than a decade of experience helping people and families manage chronic illness, will present Healing Tools for Living: From the Foundation Up. Lyons brings a holistic approach to health and healing.

Lyons’ keynote address is followed by a forum featuring men and women who were diagnosed with Parkinson’s in their 30s and 40s. Two spouses also will join the discussion about how Parkinson’s has affected careers, relationships, children – and their strategies for thriving despite the additional challenges presented by a chronic illness.

The evening wraps up with dessert and informal group discussions with OHSU medical experts.
